Sound of Black
By Carmel Rose

the higher up the food chain, the more we starve
spiritually amuck
dedicated to a dream corrupt
while blacks are breaking backs, trying to figure what lacks
we need to recognize real times and open our minds
to spiritual awakening
the sacrificial taking-- of a throne
the chosen one left on its own
the truth she must defend
faith blowing in the wind
she can’t plant her feet on what she can’t see
so deception of man becomes her air to breath
it’s like stripped culture
souls left for dead and eaten like vultures
where is love?
fallen to its knees?
asking GOD to intercede?
we need to water our minds so we can grow like trees
i want the seas of “self worth” tide to our beach
